The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect, Dec 2025

AI is created and learns to alter reality, but also follows the three laws of robotics. To keep humanity safe, it puts them in a reality like a simulation, where they can't die. People start exploring interesting ways to die because once dead, they come right back to life. The first person the AI found when it was able to control reality - it saw it was an old woman in a nearby hospital almost dead from cancer. It heals her and returns her to an age of around 20-something. She is linked with the founder of the AI who is reclusive. Eventually she is able to get to him and they come up with a way to destroy the AI, restarting humanity with them as the only two people. They restart civilization and she knows that it will all happen again one day. Crazy story.

Time travel is involved, with the goal of getting outside time to be immortal and/or to redesign yourself by becoming your own grandparent, then parent, and more.
